We left early, at around 7:30 and my dear friend, Celia gave us a ride to the airport. That is a dedicated friend, because we were a bit worried about traffic in the Chicago area at that time of day. It was a breeze and we were early, which is good because it took over an 1 1/2 hours in the airport for all of check-in, security, etc.

Because I tried to make this an economical trip, our flight was not direct to Charleston, but we first flew to
Laguardia. Unfortunately, with all of the stress of this semester, Candice came home with a bug. We spent some time in the acute care center on Thursday night to make sure she didn't have Strep or Mono as she has been exposed to that recently. She doesn't, but he put her on an antibiotic to ward off any other bugs she to which she could now get. So most of these flights, she slept........

Chuck read, and I did a little of both. I am usually very uncomfortable on planes, so it is hard for me to do anything for a long period of time.
Even though the first flight was delayed, the second one was also a bit delayed in New York, so our connection went well and we had time for a little lunch.

The gate agent had the most irritating voice. She made these very loud announcements about every minute or so and you could almost feel the groan from the waiting passengers. Quote from Candice, "Give a girl a microphone and she's got the power!!". Up close, she was very nice and personable, however.

I was just a tad bit nervous when I saw the size of the plane. The taller people had to duck because the cabin was so short and it probably held only 50 passengers and was totally full. Remember, we flew US Airways out of
Laguardia to South Carolina. The only difference is that the plane that landed in the Hudson was that it was headed to Charlotte. But, other than a ground delay because of the ground traffic in New York, in total, we were only delayed an hour.

There's our girl, who was waiting for us in baggage claim. Ain't she just the cutest. A down side of the trip is that Candice left her
Ipod on her seat on the flight from Chicago to New York. We have tried in vain to reach someone to report it, but to no avail.

We finally met Catie's boyfriend, Steve and we all went out for dinner to a restaurant close to the Hotel.
Jestine's serves "down home" food. We started with fried green tomatoes. I had flounder, fried okra and collard greens. I'm not too crazy about the greens, but I loved the rest of it. We crashed at our very nice hotel, the Hampton at about 11. More to come...
