If there is a puzzle on the table, it must be the holidays

I am not sure when this tradition started, but my mom frequently had a jigsaw puzzle out on a card table in the front room around the holidays. It may have been our January thing, since the excitement of the season was over. I know many a snow day when we were stuck on the farm and we would get out a puzzle and work it and talk. My oldest nephew, Nathan usually came to expect it on Thanksgiving, therefore I brought one for our day together, but alas, there was no time or space to do it. When my girls were old enough to do them, we also started this tradition in our home.
The tradition lives on:
Catie worked on it quite a bit while she was home and as obsessive as I am, I couldn't leave it lay, so I finished it:
There is a certain psychology to puzzles. It stretches your brain and forces you to think methodically. With copies of paintings, like the one above, you have to look for brushstrokes, different hues of colors, texture, etc. I just love how it calms me.
I know Catie will appreciate seeing it completed.
On to more holiday happenings on this snowy Saturday!!!
