One of the things Catie really wanted to do with Steve this week was to climg at Devil's Lake. Chuck took yesterday and today off so we could all go together.
We couldn't have picked a more beautiful day. Temps in mid to low 70's, blue sky with occasional white fluffy clouds and a light breeze made for perfect conditions.
We left later than usual, 6 a.m (!!!)....and stopped for McDonald's breakfast on the way up. We take the car ferry over the Wisconsin River in
Lodi, Wisconsin.

When we get to the State Park, we need to hike up to the bluffs for climbing. It's kind of a difficult hike, but so worth it:

Lest you think this is as hard as it gets:

I took this when I could get flat footing, but it was pretty much like this for about 1/2 mile.
Of course, I'm a little slower than the rest of them because I stop to catch my breath and observe the beauty along the way:

There a few birds sitting and waiting to pick our bones if we fall:

When we get to the spot, Chuck and Roland went to the top to set the ropes:

While we waited down below:

Catie and Steve took full advantage of the view for some bird watching.
Then they untangled the rope:

I think these ropes are so colorful!!! Catie and I were planning
scrapbooking pages with the color combos:

Stay tuned for part 2!!!
