I have been a member of our quilt guild for only a year, so have missed out on some traditions. In most recent years, they have done mystery quilts. The past two years of member's mystery quilts were displayed in the show and I found it so interesting how people put their own spin on a challenge. This year the challenge is "A Trip around the Block". We get instructions every two months or so and the quilt will be finished by the fall of 2010.
The first step was to make a center block 12-15 inches:

I have had the paper templates for this Dresden Block for a couple of years. I just love English Paper piecing, which is evident in the Grandmother's Flower Garden that I made. I have been collecting 30's prints for 5 years now, and it is about time that I use them and stop admiring them!
The next round is a triangle border 2-3 inches wide:

I am loving the black accents as I will be using black thread for buttonhole stitching.
Stay tuned for the next round which is due in January. This is such fun!!!
