Thursday, July 30th, more fun in Shipshewana

This was another great day in Amish land. Beryl, my cousin Alice and I went shopping in the morning. One of our stops was Yoder's general store, which has a great quilting section. While we were there, an elderly lady brought in a quilt for the customers and sales staff to look at.
It was pieced by her great grandmother when she was 8 years old. She was born in 1856, therefore it was made in 1864 and is made with real Civil War prints!! It is in pristine condition with only a couple of spots on it and no fabric wear. Incredible!!!
We stopped at Specter's where the Amish shop for yard goods:They had many quilts in the back of the store for sale:

After lunch, we went to the Mennonite-Amish education center right next to the hotel. It was very interesting and I learned so much!!Trying on Amish bonnets and hats in the "sample" Amish kitchen.
We went to an Amish farm in the afternoon. I loved it because I love animals so much, and even did something, which growing up on the farm, I had never done!!
Yep, I milked a cow for the first time in my life. The dairy princess for two terms finally did it!!!
The other dairy princess in the group did it, too!!

Then we sampled some cool milk from the cooler tank that had just been milked!!
These little girls were shooing the cows into the barn in their bare feet!! That was probably the most shocking thing I had seen the entire time I was gone.
This beauty was just born today.
This is "Cooney" the little girls pet raccoon.
Then we were off to a meal at an Amish farm.
These sweet kiddos served our meal.
Back to the hotel for some sharing family time and pictures:
The whole gang of Blatt descendants and relations present.
A perfect end to a perfect day.
