Last night was Quilt guild, a night I look forward to every month for the inspiration from fellow creators and just a great time. We had a full house last night with almost 90 members in attendance and there was a trunk show from Blue Underground Studios.

Janine Burke, half of the team (her partner, Amy Walsh recently had a baby) presented 70 quilts for us to enjoy and brought many patterns for sale. Their philosophy centers on fabric being the thing that should be focused on in the quilt, more than the pattern, so they center their patterns on getting the top done quickly and using some incredible fabrics. They mostly use Batiks,
Kaffe Fosset, Civil War
Repros and a line I had never seen before, but just adore,
Cherrywood Fabrics. I went on their web site last night, because I just fell in love with this line. They have the look of suede, which I kept commenting to my pal, Deb, and when I went on their site, that is exactly how they describe them.
Some of the beautiful items displayed last night:

I loved this one, called "Athena" ....it reminded me of Greece before I knew the name. They don't put many borders on their quilts because they say it dates the quilts. I kind of like the "whole quilt" concept.

This is blurry, sorry, but do you see how the colors in the quilt on the left pop? It is made with
Dupione Silk. I just wanted to feel it.....

This is one of the many she showed with the
Cherrywood Fabrics. So rich and soft. I was tempted to buy, but I am restraining at this time.

The rolls are
Chambrays, which reminded me of my dad's work shirts and were in a beautiful color wave from dark green to light blue.

Just one of the color waves available for purchase on
Cherrywood's site. I may be there soon...
