Very, very relaxing weekend

This has been the best past few days. I have had a crazy work schedule for the past several weeks with very little periods of more than two days off. Today is my fourth day off and it has just been great. Friday, I putzed around here and then worked on my costume for Friday night, then Bunco. Saturday was a very relaxing day around here and then I hosted "Girls night in" and had about 13 ladies for dinner. We had so much fun and laughed and laughed. I tried to teach them to play "Cranium". Even with the time change, it seemed like I went to bed early. Today was church and then Chuck and I tried a new burger joint in Grayslake and it was wonderful!!! I ate so much. They gave us free soup and I had one of the best Ruben sandwiches I've had in years with super crispy, hot fries. We will for sure go back there.
This afternoon, I worked in my sewing space in the basement and got a start on 10 Christmas gifts!! What an accomplishment. That never happens....
Today the sermon was so wonderful and such an encouragement. He spoke from Isaiah 40. The title of his sermon was "Is God big enough for this crazy world?" I needed it as we face the election, the banking crisis, the girls growing up, etc. Read Isaiah 40, the promises given there were for the kingdom for the time when they would be overtaken by the Babylonians 150 years in the future. He spoke about the fact that God hold the universe in the span of his hand. That he made the starry host, and he still cares about us.
God is big enough, even with the uncertainty that we face. I will rest in His promises.
